IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME
Summer is here, and for many of us, with it comes an urge to go someplace we may have read about but never visited. If you’re looking for a fun, family-oriented destination, I have a suggestion to make.
A copy of the latest edition of The Monitor, the Naples, Texas, 140-year-old newspaper, arrived today, announcing the eighty-eighth annual Watermelon Festival and Rodeo! If you’ve read Trouble In Texas: A Summer Adventure, you’ll remember that Matt went to the festival. There was the rodeo, an egg-toss competition, and a parade, along with other attractions. And, of course, lots of good food – just as there will be this year. If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to stop by. Coming out of Dallas, that’s on Highway 67 east.
